Toyota GT86 2017 is a sporty coupe produced by Toyota from 2012. Toyota GT86 2017 coupe is a tribute to the Toyota Corolla, whose chassis code is AE86, comes from the FT-86 concept car. Toyota GT86 is built in collaboration with Subaru, in which this model is called BRZ. GT86 is called Toyota 86 in Japan and Australia, and under the name Scion FR-S for the North American market.
Although very close to the Subaru BRZ, slight differences can be noted. The suspension design is different, as is the taring of the first springs. The latter are less hard than those of the BRZ, with 23 N / mm for the Toyota and 25 for the Subaru. The brake pads are more resistant and enduring. The Toyota GT86 is one of the few sports to be still equipped with an atmospheric engine, in order to maintain the sportiness of this type of motorization.
In March 2016, the Toyota GT86 was restyled and unveiled at the New York Motor Show in its American version to replace the Scion FR-S this coupe adopts an enlarged air intake, A redesigned shield, new optics, a new surround of the fog lamps, LED rear lights and new shields. The GT86, designed as a 2 + 2-seater, appeared on the European market on 15 September 2012 with an entry price of approximately 30,000 euros. Similar models are the Peugeot RCZ or the Audi TT. According to the Federal Motor Vehicle Authority, a total of 1,139 Toyota GT86s were registered in Germany in 2012, there were 2,067 cars in 2013. In 2014 new registrations in Germany fell to 610 vehicles, 2015 it was 347 and 299 in 2016.
The roadster version of the GT86 was presented as an Open Concept at the Geneva Motor Show 2013 and first prototypes are being developed. A model maintenance was carried out in April 2014. The roof antenna was replaced by a “shark fin antenna”, the airbag screen on the passenger side in Carbonlook designed and a tire pressure control system installed. At the New York International Auto Show 2016 another revised version of the GT86 was introduced.
Toyota GT86 2017 Engine
Toyota GT86 2017 is equipped with Subaru engine, with an opposing four flat cylinders of 1 998 cm 3. This atmospheric engine delivers its maximum torque of 205 N.m, from 6,400 to 6,600 rpm and its 200 hp at 7,000 rpm. These high speeds indicate the sharpness of the engine, delivering 100 hp per liter.
95% of the maximum torque value is available at 2,800 rpm, while the trough is at midrange between 3,200 and 4,500 rpm. Toyota GT86 is reached from 4,500 rpm that the engine explodes 4. The six-speed gearbox has a short travel, only the latter is slightly long to reduce fuel consumption on the highway 5.
Toyota GT86 2017 Chassis
The Toyota GT86 2017 model chassis is faithful to what the AE86 had done in its day. Everything was done during the design of the GT86 to reduce the height of the center of gravity. The braking allows to go from 200 km/h to the stop in 158m, while its main competitor on French soil, the Peugeot RCZ , claims 155.
This difference is explained by the adoption of Michelin Primacy HP tires in 215 / 45-17, with low longitudinal adhesion and 0.91 G of maximum transverse acceleration. This choice was dictated by the engineers Toyota in order to make his behavior player and preventive thanks to gums with little adherence.
Toyota GT86 2017 TRD
In 2014 a special model, modified by TRD (Toyota Racing Development), appeared. Toyota GT86 TRD is limited to 250 copies and is characterized by new body parts, light-alloy wheels in 18 inches and a four-stream exhaust system. The engine and transmission remained unchanged, and the driving performance was almost identical. The Toyota GT86 2017 TRD attachments were also manufactured by Subaru.
In addition to this own model, parts of TRD can also be ordered individually. Spoilers, diffusers, Toyota gt86 TRD emblems, light-alloy wheels, stabilizers and a monoblock brake system are available in Germany.
